| Every year, SVRS provides a sponsorship to the family of an EMS provider who has lost his/her life in the line of duty. This sponsorship allows the family to attend to the National EMS Memorial Service held in Roanoke, VA. This year, we sponsored the family of James Vincent Jr, who died in an Air Ambulance crash in April of 2006. SVRS Life Member Bernice Hawkins traveled to Roanoke to represent the agency, and presented that family with a memorial EMS blanket.
Today, we received an email from Mr. Vincent's family.
"My family is grateful for your assistance in aiding our expenses for our stay in Roanoke. I can't explain the depth of gratitude we feel for what you have done, we thank you all. The first thing the kids looked for in the suitcases was the blanket you gave us, my son set it out on the top of the couch right away, where it will stay. I wanted to Thank you as soon as possible, but I will be sending another through the mail.
I have turned to scripture which enables my family to carry on.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength: but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it. Eph 6: 10 Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power.
Mrs. James Vincent Jr.
Menominee, MI"
Our condolences go out to the Vincent Family, and the families of all the other EMS providers who have lost their lives while trying to help others. This sponsorship is the least we can do.
