At 2:25 AM on Sunday, 8/25, units of SVFD, SVRS, and CVFR, were dispatched to reports of a SUV overturned at the intersection of Jeff Davis Highway and Harrison Rd. When units arrived at 2:29 AM, they found an SUV on its side, with the roof against a tree. The driver was trapped in the vehicle, going in-and-out of consciousness. When the rear window was removed, a second patient was located in the back seat.
The second patient was easily extricated and transported by ground to Mary Washington Hospital, while pain and shock treatment was initiated on the first patient. It took 30 minutes to remove the vehicle from the tree and stabilize it so extrication could begin. The patient was finally freed from the vehicle at 3:50, and transported by AirCare to the Trauma Center at Fairfax Inova hospital.
