At 0201 April 17th Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue units 4-3, 8-2, and Response 4 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Lee Hill School Drive. Also on the initial dispatch were units from Spotyslvania Volunteer Fire and Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue. Additional units from Chancellor Volunteer Fire and Rescue were added as the incident unfolded. Squad 4 arrived on scene first to find a single vehicle wrapped around a large tree. First arriving EMS units were unable to reach the patient due to the extent of damage to the vehicle. After coordinated extrication efforts by Spotsylvania and Chancellor crews a second patient was located and both were determined to have been killed on impact. EMS crews remained on scene while the vehicle was removed from the tree and verified to have no additional patients. Ultimately EMS crews were able to provide aid to arriving family members, and cleared the scene approximately 2 hours after the initial dispatch.
