March 24th- Spotsylvania Medic 8-1 responded into Caroline County Saturday afternoon to a report of a vehicle overturned at the 114 mile-marker, I-95 southbound. Initial reports from a paramedic on scene advised of a single occupant entrapped and requested medivac. 8-1 actually arrived first on scene and quickly assessed the patient's condition. It was determined that ground transport was adequate and the helicopter was returned to service. Ladysmith Squad 2 and an undermanned Ladysmith ambulance arrived shortly after. The squad crew removed the driver side door to gain access to the patient. Extrication time was >20 min. Ladysmith rescue transported the patient and 8-1 returned to service. Call time approximately 1 hour.
