| On Saturday, the 10'th of March, representatives from the SVRS House, Equipment, and Supplies committee made a trip to Baltimore, MD to attend the 25'th Anniversary EMS Today exposition. The two priorities for the trip were to examine the numerous ambulance units on display, and to check out the many new EMS related items being demonstrated. Some effort was also made to develop new contacts for future supply purchases.
The following Tuesday, Wheeled Coach brought a demonstration unit out to Rescue Station 1 for examination prior to the monthly squad business meeting. Representatives of the three agencies had a chance to poke around the unit and pick the mind of the Wheeled Coach representative. A unit from Horton Ambulances will be on display at the next business meeting in April.
The three rescue agencies in Spotsylvania County (Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, Chancellor Volunteer Fire & Rescue, and Spotsylvania County Department of Fire & Rescue Services) are currently in the midst of updating the countywide ambulance specifications. The specification is updated every three years and the new specification will be finalized and put out for bid by July 1, 2007. Once this happens, SVRS plans to immediately purchase another ambulance under the new specifications. |
