| On June 3, 2009, 11 year old Jonathan Colson was struck by lightning while playing catch at Lee Hill Park. Jonathan was revived by bystanders and responding crew members of SVRS.
On Sunday, September 20, 2009 family and friends held a celebration in honor Jonathan's homecoming. Responding crew members from SVRS, Chancellor Vol. Fire/Rescue, and Spotsylvania Vol. Fire Dept, were invited to the "Homecoming Celebration" held at Salem Fields Community Church.
