At approximately 1630 hours members of Station 4 were dispatched to for 'injuries from a fall'. Initial dispatch report indicated a teenage subject who had fallen in the woods has possibly broken his leg. SVFD Company 4 was added to the call for extra manpower. Upon arrival, personnel was met by a homeowner who guided them down a steep path into a gully behind his house. The patient was located in the gully across a small stream. The 65 year old male had been hiking with his godson when he slipped on a wet rock and struck his leg. He had obvious deformity to one leg and was unable to bear weight. The patient's leg was immobilized. The crews used the Reeves Sleeve to carry the patient approximately 80 yards from the creek bed area to the ambulance. The patient arrived safe and sound, although a bit soggy, at Mary Washington Hospital a short time later.
