At 00:35, duty crews at station 4 heard the sound of a MVA and immediately hit the road to try to find it. Wagon 4 searched a portion of Lafayette Blvd, Harrison Rd, and Jeff Davis Hgwy, while Trauma 4-4 searched the other direction on Lafayette, Jeff Davis Hgwy, Mine Rd, and Falcon Dr. However, both searches were unsuccessful. Just as units were about to return to quarters, they were dispatched to the accident in the parking lot of a business slightly outside the searched area on Lafayette Blvd.

Once on-scene, they found a single vehicle with moderate damage. The vehicle had gone off the side of the road, sideswiped an electrical pole, rotated around to hit a traffic pole on the opposite side of the vehicle, before coming to rest in the parking lot. Despite the almost 14 inches of intrusion on the drivers door, the driver was out and walking around.

Dominion Power, Verizon, and the highway department were summoned to deal with the damage done to the poles. The driver refused treatment, and units returned to service by 01:00.

Units: Trauma 4-4, Engine 4, Squad 4
