On Monday, the American Heart Association announced that hands-only CPR works as well as the standard CPR previously taught.

In short, studies have found that hands-only CPR is just as effective in adults as the traditional compressions/breathing CPR currently taught. Because cardiac arrest in children is usually related to breathing problems, the compressions/breathing technique should still be used for children.
