On Saturday, May 20, The National EMS Memorial Service was held at the Hyatt Regency, Crystal City, Arlington Virginia. Approximately 100 EMS riders took part in the event wearing two dog tags for each of the 28 Honorees identifying their name, agency, and date of loss. One of these dog tags was presented to the Honorees' family member. On Saturday, the Memorial Service commenced with Bag Pipes and Drums, presentation of Colors, the Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem. After the welcoming remarks, Keynote Address and Special Memorial Music, each Honoree is recognized and the family is presented with a flower, medal and an American Flag which was flown over the Nation's Capital. This was followed by a "Tribute Video Presentation", National Moment of Silence, TAPS and the Bag Pipes and Drums playing Amazing Grace. The Colors were retired with closing remarks and a Candle Light Remembrance Ceremony and closing Special Memorial Music. This was followed by soft drinks and snacks and an opportunity to meet each of the Fallen Honorees' families. Barbara and Bob Morrison along with Astra attended the very somber event.
