SVRS and the EMS Community Lose a Good Friend

We are sad to announce the loss of Ms. Arvel P. Shannon, who passed away at the age of 81. In July 2004 she established a trust fund for SVRS, which supported the renovation of the Training Center and the ongoing maintenance and development of the building. Through her contributions we have been able to provide EMS training opportunities to many providers.

Her contributions to SVRS have been recognized at the regional and state level. In 2010 she was a recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding Contributions to EMS.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A service will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 7 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
