SVRS Mourns the Loss of Life Member Karen Brennan

Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad Life Member Karen Brennan passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was a life-long resident of the area. She graduated from James Monroe High School and Mary Washington College and worked for Computer Science Corp. in Dahlgren.

Karen was a paramedic and a life member of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad. She served on several committees and boards, and was a preceptor to new members. She remained an active and integral part of the squad throughout her illness. She was also active with the Fredericksburg Fire Department and Spotsylvania Fire Department Company 1's Ladies Auxiliaries, a member of the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association as well as the Ladies Auxiliary to the Virginia State Firefighter's Association.

Family members will receive visitors from 1800-2230 on Saturday, January 30 at the Fredericksburg Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at the church on Sunday, January 31 at 1400 hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fredericksburg Baptist Church Music Fund, 1019 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401 or to the Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad, Box 101, Spotsylvania, Va. 22553.
